The recent thunderstorms have allowed a very small
amount of water to remain in the ditch at McElroy
Lake, which is now just a field. A female Blue-winged
Teal and three half-grown ducklings were present in
the area of the culvert with no where to go.
These birds, along with the two broods recorded at
Chaney earlier in the summer, represent little more
than a handful of documented breeding records of this
species for the karst lakes of Warren County.
