[birdky] Long-tailed Duck

At 2:30 today a rare bird alert was was issued for a Long-tailed Duck that was
seen from the Clark Maritime Center in Jeffersonville, IN. The bird was seen
swimming in the cove just left of Eagle Steel (at the Clark Maritime Center)
and swimming into the Ohio River making it both an Indiana and a Kentucky bird.

Directions: Take I-65 (over the Kennedy Bridge) to I-265. Go east on I-265
toward the Clark Maritime Center. Continue until road ends at Utica Pike. Turn
left on Utica Pike. Go app. 1/3 mile and turn right on Loop Road. Go past corn
field on left and turn left in front of Eagle Steel. Proceed straight ahead to
gravel road that turns to the right. A sign will say "Wrong Way." Ignore it on
the weekend since Eagle Steel is not open on the weekend. The cove will be up
the road on your left. Pay particular attention to the mouth of the cove, as
this is where the Long-tailed Duck likes to feed.

During the week, DO NOT drive up this gravel road; instead park in the gravel
area on the left just before you get to the Wrong Way gravel road and walk
down. Be aware that heavy trucks use this road during the week. Be sure there
is enough room for trucks to get in and out. Be careful.

The management at Eagle Steel has given permission for birders to visit during
the week but they have asked that we not drive the gravel road or interfere
with their truck traffic. Please, let's not abuse their request.
