[birdky] Logan & Todd County birding

5 November 2005:

 

Today I birded in southern Logan and Todd Counties, as well as northern
Robertson County, TN.

 

Highlights were as follows:

 

Mosley's Pond, Logan County

 

1 Wood Duck

1 Mallard

8 Unidentified dabblers

1 Great Blue Heron

1 Eastern Phoebe

2 Winter Wrens

2 Ruby-crowned Kinglets

2 Golden-Crowned Kinglets

 

Driving west on KY 848, I observed about 20 Horned Larks in SW Logan
County and a single Northern Harrier in SE Todd County.

 

At Guthrie Swamp, I as able to observe the following a few birds at 3
points from public roads.

 

At the northeast corner were:

 

37 Canada Geese

123 Mallards

1 Green-winged Teal

4 Ring-necked Ducks

1 Bald Eagle, adult

3 Pectoral Sandpipers

1 Semipalmated Sandpiper, &

3 Dunlin.

 

On the southeast side were 2 Great Blue Herons, and on the southwest
side were 1 Great Blue Heron and 1 Belted Kingfisher.
