[birdky] Late report w. Henderson Co. 9/18: Am. Golden Plover & R-b Grosbeaks

Sunday morning in the fog at dawn I hit western Henderson Co.

In order: Horseshoe Road slough and other areas near Horseshoe Road, Grassy Pond/Powell's Lake Unit, 268 slough, Pond Creek Marsh, Hardy Slough.

Horseshoe Road slough water is gone from the NE end. Some mud remains and a few shorebirds.
268 slough is quickly drying up.

We barely got any rain with the recent frontal passage so things are getting dry again.

Highlights:

Pied-billed Grebe 1 HRs area
Double-crested Cormorant 15 overhead at GP/PL
Mix of Mallards, Blue-wing & Green-wing Teal in HRs area
Wood Duck GP/PL
Cooper's Hawk GP/PL
Harrier 1 juv at HRs and another at PCM and another at Hardy (these could all be the same bird...who knows)
Am. Golden Plover 1 juv or nonbreeding adult on the mud at HRs
Wilson's Snipe HRs area
Solitary Sandpiper HRs area
Greater Yellowlegs 268s
Lesser Yellowlegs 268s
Least Sandpiper HRs & area, 268s
Belted Kingfisher 1 Hardy
Catbird Hardy
E. Bluebirds Hardy
Com. Yellowthroat everywhere
Indigo Buntings GP/PL, PCM, Hardy
Rose-breasted Grosbeak 3 at GP/PL
