Set out this morning intending to walk another stretch of creek. Crossing a wheat stubblefield, I stopped to look at a couple of birds foraging on the ground ahead of me. At least one of the two was a Lark Sparrow. I trained the scope on it, reached for my camera, then realized I had forgotten it. Maybe my most maddening reason ever for missing a shot. Went back for my camera and spent the rest of the morning unsuccessfully trying to relocate the Lark Sparrow. Never made it to the creek.
