[birdky] Kentucky Lake 11/26-28, 2004

I managed to spend a few hours birding Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The
most common bird I saw in KY Lake bays were Bonaparte's Gulls. They seem be
everywhere in good numbers. Other birds of note were:
Common Loon
Horned Grebe
Green-winged Teal
Northern Shoveler
Gadwall
American Wigeon
Lesser Scaup
Common Goldeneye
Ruddy Duck
Bald Eagle
Forster's Tern
Lesser Black-backed Gull
Thayer's Gull
Hermit Thrush
The lake level is high and the gates at KY Dam have been opened. The gulls
are congregating around the dam. They seem to be roosting just above the dam
again this year. Let's hope they continue to gather there, it makes gull
watching easier.
