Recent rains have brought the lakes up enough that shorebird habitat is once
again at a premium. Today's rains sent me to the dam to see if anything had
dropped in at the beach. No shorebirds but gull numbers are increasing. A
young Laughing Gull was the only unusual gull I found. One ratty looking Adult
and two young Common Loons were swimming close to KY Dam.
At Barkley the newly cut field attracted no less than 136 Cattle Egrets.
Black Crowned Night Herons are everywhere, I stopped counting at 108 birds.
