[birdky] KY LAKE 26 March 2004

The YELLOW-BILLED LOON and the CALIFORNIA GULL were both seen this afternoon
at their previously reported sites. The loon was about 600-800 yards off
shore. Jane & Pat Bell and I watched the loon for about 15 minutes and
during that time it was repeatedly diving and doing so by going under the
water more like a "submarine" than a diving bird. Then it disappeared and we
could not relocate it after spending about 40 minutes looking. Pat , Jane
and I, with help from Hap Chambers, found the gull near sunset below the dam
and at sunset above the dam to the southeast of the east pullout.
