[birdky] KY Dam 2/14 & 2/15/04

Sunday was not a good day for gull watching. Strong wind, cold temperature
and white caps made viewing KY Lake difficult. Four observers searched the
lake for the Little Gull with no reward.
We did have long, close-up looks at both the Great Black-backed and the
Iceland/Thayer's now being called a Kumlien's gull. Both these birds were
found in
the parking lot on the West side below the dam. If you have time and
interest the study of the Kumlien's is well worth the trip.
Other birds of interest were:
Horned Grebe
Gadwall
Lesser Scaup
Common Goldeneye
Red-brested Merganser
Bald Eagle -6
Bonaparte's
Ring-billed gull
Herring gull
Lesser Black-backed Gull
Hap
Murray, KY
