This is the Kentucky Bird Line, sponsored by the Kentucky Ornithological
Society.  This update is current as of July 6, 2004 at 11:00 AM EDT.
The highlights of this update are:
 
There has not been much to report for several weeks, but a few things of
interest have been reported. A total of 42 BLACK-NECKED STILTS were
counted in Fulton County this week, where breeding has taking place.
Also observed and mentioned in the same report were 94 GREAT EGRETS, 2
LEAST TERN, 13 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, and  53 AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN. 
 
From Pulaski County 3 RUFFED GROUSE were seen in the Bee Rock. Also
noted there were 2 SWAINSON'S WARBLERS still in singing mode. 
 
And speaking of Warblers: AMERICAN REDSTART were observed in Pike County
along with CERULEAN, BLUE-WINGED, and YELLOW WARBLERS. Also in the
eastern part of the state, a GREAT BLUE HERON nest was observed on the
golf course at Pine Mt State Park. There were 2 young in the nest.  Also
in the news were YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON young leaving the nest in
Lexington. 
 
Lastly 7 COMMON TERN were seen on Barren River Reservoir on the 29th of
last month.
