[birdky] Jefferson County, KY, NAMC results, Sept. 17, 2005

15 participants in 7 parties tallied 111 species and 12,259 individual birds
(5,060 of the individuals were starlings).

Warblers were below average for the Fall count. 21 warbler species were
reported, including: 5 golden-winged (higher than usual), 1 orange-crowned,
1 mourning, 1 n. waterthrush, and 1 Canada. The commonest species of
warblers were: Am. redstart (57) and magnolia (52).

Unusual species for the Fall count included:
6 semipalmated plovers, 1 greater yellowlegs, 1 sanderling (all at the
Falls); 1 yellow-bellied flycatcher, 5 purple martins, 2 barn swallows, 2
white-throated sparrows, and 1 bobolink.

Numbers seemed to be higher than usual for: great egret, Caspian tern, rock
pigeon, ruby-throated hummingbird, European Starling, red-winged blackbird,
and common grackle. We cleaned up on the trash birds (no pun intended).

Numbers seemed to be lower than usual for: cedar waxwings, blue-winged
warbler, bay-breasted warbler, and scarlet tanager.

Thanks to all the participants.
