Anyone interested in seeing KY nesting birds on the Internet (and several nests
from other states) can visit the Cornell University web site at:
http://www.birds.cornell.edu/birdhouse/nestboxcam/ For the first time the
osprey nest will be viewable day and night. We have all new equipment at the
Lake Barkley osprey nest this year including an IR camera providing night
images. Last night a great horned owl landed on the osprey nest (saved image
available to see at the above web site). During the day, ospreys are visiting
the nest often and adding to a nest cup. Cornell U., Caldwell Co. Elem. School
and KEEP, Inc. are partnering on the project again this year. Those wishing to
support the project can obtain info. at the linked KEEP web site. Heath
Elementary near Paducah has a bluebird nest with 4 eggs today at the Cornell
web site and CCES may be adding a bluebird nest soon.
