An assessment by the International Crane Foundation (ICF) of the Kentucky
Sandhill Crane hunt proposal is now published on the Kentucky Coalition for
Sandhill Cranes website. The assessment addresses several issues of concern
and recommends 2-3 years of population study and then a re-evaluation of the
proposal before a hunt is initiated. Copied below is a link to the assessment

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources voted at the May 6
Wildlife Committee meeting to defer the decision to the full commission meeting
on June 3. The decision whether or not to initiate a season on the cranes this
December will be made at this meeting. Now is the time to send letters/emails
of opposition to the commissioners and governor if you have not yet done so.
Please urge others to do the same and please be respectful in your letters.
