Thursday Sept. 15 I recently observed something I had never seen before. For a couple of days last week I observed an immature male Ruby-throated Hummingbird with a nearly complete bright ruby gorget, black chin and all! Many of the auricular feathers and face were also already black! The white spots of both sides outer tail feathers (R5 - R3) of a typical immature were observed as the hummer fed from a feeder! It was a sharp-looking little hummer! Jackie B. Elmore near Stanford, KY.
