On our afternoon walk yesterday a small, bent over maple tree caught my eye.
While trying to figure out what had fallen and bent it over, a thrush flitted
across my field of view. There was just enough light to see that it had a rufus
tail contrasting with a duller body - a Hermit Thrush.
I thought our late hummer had left. I did not see it on Thursday after seeing
it Mon-Wed. Then I saw it taking off from the feeder as we opened the yard gate
on our way back from our walk. It was warm enough yesterday to open a window,
so I set up the scope and waited. It returned at 6:00 and fed for more than a
minute. The light was too low for a decent picture, but I got 3 fuzzy shots.
