[birdky] Henderson Sloughs: A Warbler Day

7AM to Noon
64º overcast, light fog early, rising to 73º

Sloughs WMA
I spent almost 3 hours along Gentle Pond, and 2 more around Hardy Slough/Shorebird Unit area. The Shorebird Unit has so much water no shorebirds present. Just a Hooded Merganser and 2 male N. Shovelers. 
First Shovelers I've seen in a couple of weeks.
268 slough (River slough) too much water just some Spotted Sandpipers, no ducks. Intersection of 268 and J Dance Road: Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs and Spotted Sandpipers, 1 Great Egret. 

Highlight of the day was all the warblers:
Black and White
Prothronotary
Tennessee
Nashville
N. Parula
Yellow
Magnolia
Yellow-rumped
Black-throated Green
Chestnut-sided
Blackpoll
Northern Waterthrush
Yellowthroat
Yellow-breasted Chat
American Redstart

Other birds of note:
Bald Eagle
Red-tailed Hawk
Red-shouldered Hawk
Turkey
Bobwhites
Chimney Swifts
E. Kingbird
Great-crested Flycatcher
E. Wood Peewee
Catbirds
Brown Thrashers
Wood Thrush
Swainson's Thrush
Veery
Orchard Oriole
Baltimore Oriole
Scarlet Tanager
Summer Tanager
Indigo Buntings - now females present
Dickcissels everywhere
Field Sparrows
White-crowned Sparrows
White-throated Sparrows
Song Sparrows


At home in the backyard I've still got:
White-crowned Sparrows
Rose-breasted Grosbeaks (male & female several of each)
an Indigo Bunting keeps hanging around
Bobwhite calling
