Rhonda and I spent a perfect morning kayaking from Ruddles Mills in
Bourbon County to Lair in Harrison County. The Great Blue Heron rookery
was very active, but it is impossible in passing to tell how many nest
were in use, and a little late in the season. There are about 6-7 trees
and easily 50 nests. One tree alone has nearly half that. There was
plenty of expected bird activity. We have had two kayak outings, a total
of 20+ miles and have yet to see a Belted Kingfisher.
I am about out of cicadas in my yard, my urban chickens are greatly
disappointed.
