On a visit to my home county I spent this morning birding with my brother, Rick.
At the marina in Worthington we were surprised to find 9 Cackling Geese and a
couple Lesser Canadas. OUr first for the county.
Others seen there included:
Gadwall (8)
Mallards (20+)
Am. Coots (2)
Along the road on the way to the marina I was also surprised to see an E.
Kingbird. I know it's supposed to be too late for one, but I got a good look
at it. We looked for it on the return trip but couldn't find it.
Other notable species seen along the road:
Red-Shouldered Hawks (2)
Bluebirds ((8+)
At the Greenup city park we also observed:
Pied-bill Grebe (1)
A total of the following were seen at all or some of the above locations:
GB Herons (6)
B.Kingfishers (4)
I enjoyed listening to an immature red-tailed hawk as it soared low over my
parents farm yesterday afternoon.
