[birdky] Great Egret-Pike Co.

For several days a GREAT EGRET has been present here on the Tug Fork of the
Big Sandy River in South Williamson. This is the first time in many years of
observation that I ever have seen this bird in this area. It is definitely
not injured because I have seen it in flight. It flies high and for a long
distance until out of sight upriver. Other birds seen this past week:

GREEN HERON, GREAT BLUE HERON, AMERICAN KESTREL, WOOD THRUSH, BELTED
KINGFISHER, RED-TAILED HAWK, WOOD DUCK, EASTERN TOWHEE, BARN SWALLOWS,
KINGBIRD, GREY CATBIRD, BROWN THRASHER, KILLDEER, RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER,
FLICKER, AM GOLDFINCHES, and other yard birds!

Cheers,

Joan Carr, Pike County

South Williamson, KY
