WE SAW THIS BIRD THE DAY BEFORE WITH 4 OTHERS ALSO. SEEMED LIKE A FAMILY
PLAYING AROUND. VERY LIGHT!! I COULDN'T SEE ANY DARKNESS ON THE LEADING
EDGE OF THE UNDER WINGS. HAD MANY GOOD LOOKS.

Hi All,
This past Thursday, 9/20, David Raines and I met his cousin, Steve (Kip)
Sweeney and his friend, Tom, atop Pine Mountain near Whitesburg, KY to watch
the hawk migration. The hawks didn't cooperate, and we only got about 60 for
the day, but we had a great time, and got some great looks at a beautiful,
light-phase Red-tailed Hawk. The bird flew to an area of the sky almost
directly above us, and kited (hovered in one area). Here are some photos that
definitely do not do the bird justice.
