Following are highlights from a few quick stops in Fulton County this evening.
Pied-billed grebe -- 1Adult and 1 Juvenile
Great Egret
Wood Ducks (72)
Mississippi Kite (one Adult guarding the nest)
Least Sandpiper
Tree Swallows (hundreds)
Loggerhead Shrike
Dickcissel
My time was limited because I spent most of the day in Memphis at Ensley
Bottoms. Anyone who does not receive TN Birds might be interested to read
about the Black-necked Stilts that have successfully nested at the pits this
summer. The number of birds is approximately 300. There are young of every
stage of development, from newly hatched to flying birds. It was a site to
see, especially the fuzzy little newborns taking their first steps.
