[birdky] Flight of the Turkeys

20 November 2007

Today near 11:00 AM CST, I visited Lake Herndon for my first time this
season. I was hoping to see some waterfowl and perhaps a few grebes.

As I was scanning the water with my scope, a large bird flew across my
field for view. I raised my head and binoculars to observe a flight of
Wild Turkeys "sliding" across the lake. I counted 41 Turkeys in the
flight. Upon landing, they began to migrate up the adjacent wooded
hillside, gradually leaving my field of view.

I also saw 7 Pied-billed Grebes on the lake and 9 Black Vultures
"soaring" above the hills.

I guess it was "appropriate" to have this sighting 2 days before the
"feast".

That concludes this report.
