I'm posting this for Mary Walter.

----------------------------------

I made it down to the Falls 7:45-9:00 this morning with high hopes.
I did not get an avocet.

What I did see:

4 WILLETS
1 CASPIAN TERN
1 greater yellowlegs
green heron at basin
Osprey sitting on the wall
huge numbers of black-crowned night herons (immature and adult) ?
didn't see any yellow-crowned night herons while glancing
40+ black vultures sitting about
a handful of TVs
great egrets
great blue herons
several killdeer
several female and immature wood ducks
mallards and three ducklings
several ring-billed gulls (I suppose)
kingbirds in the trees

a peregrine dive bombing another (visibly molting) sitting on the
fossil beds, then chasing it right overhead into the trees. Later same
bird? sitting on the fossil beds preening ? beautiful adult bird?so
much for small shorebirds!

heard: warbling vireo, northern oriole, black and white warbler?,
blue-gray gnatcatchers, cedar waxwings
