[birdky] Exactly what did I see in Muhlenberg County

I went out on the Rails to Trails early this morning since I had some time off
work and wanted to see what was different from the usual cast of characters I
see in the late afternoon. I heard and saw a number of yellow billed cuckoos,
and I finally saw a kingfisher, who was oddly not making any sound at all.
However, the biggest surprise was 4 legged - I watched a mink/ferret/weazel run
from a grassy area along side the path down toward the marsh carrying a
substantial breakfast - if it was a mouse, it was largish. I checked the Ky
Fish and Wildlife site and found listings for Mink (Hopkins county was the
closest to me) and for short and long tailed weazels (not in counties near
Muhlenberg.) What I saw was about the same shade of brown as the Beavers and
the Muskrats - I didn't notice any signifcant difference in the belly color,
but it could have been somewhat muddy from its hunt. My secretary suggested it
could also be a liberated ferret but I have no idea how well one would do in
the wild, and this creature was definately about to eat/feed its family a large
meal. You experts out there help me out, please.
