[birdky] E. Phoebe & Loggerhead Shrike - Henderson Co.

I did the western Henderson Co. trip this morning.

1/21/06 8AM to Noon, 43º overcast, occasionally windy

Highlights:

Woods Tract of Sloughs:
Tundra Swans: 30
Canada Geese (one with orange band on neck)
Greater White Fronted Geese
Snow Geese (both White & Blue phase)
Mallards
Shovelers
Pintails

Anderson Pond:
Ring-necked Ducks
Black Ducks
Gadwalls

268 slough:
Hooded merganser pair
Killdeer

Horseshoe Road slough:
more water but still not alot
no sightings - duck hunters in the area
Coyote in the area

Grassy Pond:
Song Sparrow
duck hunters in the area

Powells' Lake:
Winter Wren
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Golden-crowned Kinglet
Swamp Sparrow

Highland Creek/Jenny Hole:
Hairy Woodpecker
Eastern Phoebe

Late report:

On 1/19/06 I saw the Loggerhead Shrike again that I have seen on the SW portion of 425 Bypass around Henderson.
