Yesterday morning I visited Draut Park/St. Matthews nature preserve in hopes of
finding a willow flycatcher. The wind was just enough to make it hard to hear
so I never found the willow flycatcher. However, I did have a yellow-bellied
flycatcher "pee-yurring" away. Other birds of note: Mourning (skulking in the
bushes and singing like crazy), black and white, black-throated green,
Wilson's, female blackpoll and magnolia warblers; green heron and a pair of
yellow-billed cuckoos in the willows. Green frogs were singing and I watched a
focused muskrat swimming upstream. Also found blue-grey gnatcatcher and catbird
nests.
