There was a pretty good campaign of fall birds at Evergreen Cemetery in
Southgate this morning. In section 44 near the Civil War earthworks there were
at
least 8 Pine Siskins "palling around" with about a dozen American
Goldfinches. The finches were lobbying the hemlock and sweetgum trees for
seed, which
appeared to be present in considerable surplus. Also present were 2
Golden-crowned Kinglets, 2 Ruby-crowned Kinglets, 20 Yellow-rumped Warblers
and 30
Chipping Sparrows.
