One IMMATURE BROWN PELICAN resting at midriver in front of the Manhattan
Harbour Marina inlet (Dayton, KY)?at around 8:20 PM, photos taken. About two
minutes after I first sighted it the pelican flew up and circled around over on
the Ohio side, and landed in a tree next to the boat ramp at a park in the East
End. As the Ohio compilers seem to ignore my Ohio River sightings (such as last
year's avocet) even when I witness the bird?flying over to the Ohio side, maybe
they will count this one as it landed in an Ohio tree. Otherwise we'll have to
count that tree (and the boat ramp) as being in KY :-). Also present on the
Dayton, KY side 1 adult Spotted Sandpiper with two week and a half old chicks,
1 Least Sandpiper, 2 Willow Flycatchers and 40 Bank Swallows at the nest
colony.
