[birdky] Calloway County

It seemed like a good day to bird in Calloway County and check on spring
arrivals. The rising lake is still home to Scaup, Shovelers, Gadwall,
Blue-winged teal and Wood Ducks. Fish Crows seem to be more common around KY
Lake this year. I heard several today, one at my cabin.
Seventy plus American White Pelicans were hunkered down against the high
winds on the islands across from Panorama Shores. Double-crested Cormorants
were perched near their nesting spot but I didn't see any on the nests. An
Adult Bald Eagle, Red-shouldered hawks, Louisiana Waterthrush, Blue-gray
gnatchatchers and Pileated Woodpeckers were all busy hunting for food on this
cold, windy spring day.
