[birdky] Brewster's Warbler

As I was walking to the mailbox around 1 p.m. I heard a Blue Wing Warbler
singing very close to the house. I ran into the house and grabbed my
binoculars and went to the area where I heard the bird. I started pishing and
the bird kept singing and getting closer to me. The more I pished, the closer
it got. I saw some movement in the bushes but couldn't see the bird. I kept
pishing and all of a sudden it jumped onto a bare branch not more than 10 feet
from me. It looked like a Blue Wing but yet it didn't. It sat there for about
30-40 seconds singing. I thought that's a Brewsters. I went back into the
house to get a field guide and verified that it was indeed a Brewsters warbler!
Eddie came home 30 minutes later and we both went to the area. At first we
didn't hear anything. Then we got the bee buzz of a Blue Wing warbler. I left
Eddie there and the warbler appeared to him; he got a good look and agreed that
it was a Brewsters. While we were out there looking for warblers, we had an
osprey, probably a juvenile fly overhead. We are still seeing purple finches
at our feeders, hearing wood thrushes, seeing yellow rumps, also early this
morning about 4 am Eddie heard a great horned owl in our woods.
