I'm still very much a junior birder, but I did see the following today along the trail.
Blank and white warbler (my first one!) Ovenbird Red bellied Woodpecker Indigo Bunting Brown-headed Cowbirds Worm-eating warbler (another first) Great Crested Flycatcher (Thanks to the birders on the trail that helped me ID that one!)
I caught a glimpse of a bird that I can't seem to find in my bird book. I only saw it briefly as it was flying pretty fast through the low brush. It looked black on the top of its head, back and tail with a rufous throat/sides/possibly belly. Its head looked similar to a flycatcher...kind of fluffy on top. When it flew it had white on the outer edges of its tail. It wasn't an eastern towhee. This bird wasn't that big. Any ideas?
Along Middlecreek road, there was a lot of activity about halfway down the road between KY 18 and BCC.
Yellow Breasted Chat Yellow Warbler Downey Woodpecker Eastern Towhee Tufted Titmouse American Goldfinch (M/F) Black capped Chickadee Gray Catbird Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher (Even saw two at a nest. Didn't see any little ones)
Plus many Blue Jays, Robins, Red winged Blackbirds, turkey vultures, starlings. |
