My brother's kids raised 7 quail to near maturity prior to letting them
go the first of June on the family farm. Saturday there was a beautiful
male sitting on a low white oak limb in the yard singing away. My niece
swinging in a neighboring tree was coming within twenty feet of the
quail at the her apex. I never expected any of those tame little fellows
to make the summer out, but I have to think this was one of them.
