[birdky] Bluebird in robin's nest

Some weeks ago I noticed a female bluebird sitting in an abandoned robin's nest
located on a drainpipe under the eaves of the house next door. The eaves extend
partially over a large deck which is at least 12 feet off the ground. Nobody
lives at the house at present, so there is little to disturb the nest. I have
seen bluebirds settle down in other birds' nests when the weather is chilly, so
I watched and waited. Days went by, and there she sat, a male hanging out
nearby. I concluded that she must be incubating eggs. I had to leave town, so I
put my husband on spy detail. After a few more days, he reported seeing the
parents feeding young. By the time I returned, the babies had fledged. The nest
is still there, awaiting somebody else! Woodpeckers, perhaps?

Cheers!
