[birdky] Bluebird Meeting Public Invited

  Kentucky Bluebird Society Annual Meeting 
  The Kentucky Bluebird Society (KBS) meeting is this Saturday, May 27, 2006.  
The event is co-sponsored by KBS and Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park 
(KDVSRP) located at Gilbertsville, Kentucky near Kentucky Dam.  
  The meeting will begin at the KDVSRP Main Lodge Meeting Room near the front 
lobby at 1 pm.  Indoor presentations will begin the activities with special 
guests including Dr. Wayne Davis, Dr. David Pitts and Paul Busse presenting 
topics including bluebirds, Carolina wrens and the new KBS live cam bluebird 
box respectively.  Ed Ray, KBS VP and Education Director will share his session 
on the KBS award winning Outdoor Classroom Enrichment Program (OCEP) for 
Kentucky schools with teachers and students requested to attend and briefly 
highlight their school?s OCEP activities.  The Kentucky Association For 
Environmental Education (KAEE) recognized KBS with its KAEE 2005 Award For 
Excellence in environmental education for the OCEP program. As part of OCEP, 
KBS provides up to five free bluebird boxes to all Kentucky schools wishing to 
assist bluebirds while including bluebirds in their school studies.  A plaque 
presented to KBS for the OCEP program will be available for
 participants to see.  A raffle and door prize drawing will be held for a new 
KBS live cam bluebird box and other bluebird items. Outdoor activities will 
begin at about 4 pm with a short hike along KDVSRP?s new bluebird trail to 
check the nesting boxes for bluebirds while discussing how to help bluebirds.  
A special surprise nest will be featured during a field trip involving a short 
hike.     
  The public is invited to join KBS to celebrate Kentucky bluebirds and 
discover how to help and enjoy an outstanding wildlife species.  There is no 
charge for attending the May 27 Bluebird Special Event.
