[birdky] Re: BirdKy- Rpt: Blue Grosbeak

Scott,

There are few birds that stir my love of birds more than the Blue Grosbeak.
When Diane and I lived in Louisville, we birded southern Indiana as much as
Kentucky. I remember Indiana birder Mike Brown showing us and Lene Rauth,
Indiana's first nest record(I believe) of this species around 1975 near
Oakland City. At that time, records in Kentucky were few, with most in
western Ky. The book by Robert Mengel, The Birds of Kentucky (1965) summed
up this species' status at that time as "poorly known; seemingly a very rare
transient and casual summer resident, at least in western KY".

Great bird, congratulations!
