[birdky] BirdKy: Backyard Birds

A nice array of fall migrants graced our backyard with their presence this
afternoon.
The following species were feeding in the hackberry and locust trees --
yellow-bellied sapsucker
yellow-bellied flycatcher
ruby-crowned kinglet
Swainson's thrush
gray catbird
white-eyed and blue-headed vireos
Tennessee, orange-crowned, magnolia, Cape May, black-throated green,
   blackburnian, and black-and-white warblers
summer tanager

We also had a new bird to add to our yard list. Upon hearing the jays,
chickadees and other birds making quite a fuss, we hurried down the hill to see
what
was causing all the excitement. Perched in a nearby tree was a barred owl.
What a delight to be able to see this bird in our own yard.

Good birding to all,
Pat and Jane Bell
