This is the Kentucky Bird Line, sponsored by the Kentucky Ornithological
Society.  This update is current as of May 17, 2005 at 11:00 AM EDT.
The highlights of this update are:
 
On Saturday the 14th a single BRANT was seen on a small lake in the Twin
Lakes subdivision in Somerset. The subdivision is located on highway
1247 just north of highway 80. the bird has not been seen since Sunday
the 15th.
 
An enormous number of migrants were mentioned this week. Some of the
rarer are: a single VEERY found singing in Berea College Woods on the
16th  ,along with 2 CANADA WARBLER; GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH mentioned from
both the Berea College Woods, and the KY WMA; 50+ BOBOLINK  in the
Ballard WMA; and "tons" of DICKCISSEL  in the KY WMA. 
 
4 MISSISSIPPI KITE were seen in the Ballard WMA also, along with a
lingering WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE. Two other lingerers were a RUBY-CROWNED
KINGLET also in Ballard, and a RING-NECKED DUCK seen on the 12th in the
KY WMA.
