[birdky] Berea Woods/Owsley, 4/27

A pretty active day. The leaves are filling out--a good deal of hearing and not as much seeing. But very fun for me, Bruce Cryder from Lexington, and Frank Clayton (a visitor from North Carolina).

We spent most of the time at Berea--and a little at Owsley where we saw Yellow Warbler, Palm, and a lovely adult male Orchard Oriole. Newish birds at Berea were Blue-Headed Vireo (lots) and Swainson's Thrush (1).

We had 17 warbler species--nothing really new, a couple of singing Blackpolls were nice. Warblers: blue-winged, parula, yellow, yellow rump, yellow-throated, pine, prairie, palm, blackpoll, black and white, worm, oven, Louisiana (back after an absence, 2-3), kentucky, yellowthroat, hooded, chat.

A lengthy view of a pileated perched horizontally on a branch was also great.
