[birdky] Barn Owls and American Woodcock

Thought I would recount a few of the sights I have seen while I have been out trapping American Woodcocks for my master's project. Migrating woodcocks are pretty well gone, numbers have fallen significantly from last week.

During my nights out I have seen all the owls that call Kentucky their home plus the migratory Saw-whets. For those seeking Barn Owls, I have seen them at the south end of Central Kentucky WMA. There a lot of old barns and houses in the area and I imagine there is a nest off Muddy Creek road toward the shooting range. The other location I have seen a bird is around Robinson Creek on the Green River WMA. There are a good deal of Amish in the area, and I would imagine that is where they would be nesting.

A few Wilson's Snipe have been observed at CKWMA as well.

I also had a little free time to bird Green River State park last wednesday. Had large numbers of E. Towhee and Field sparrow as well as a smattering of Thrashers. Best bird was a single Pine Siskin.
