[birdky] Ballard Report

Took the family for a drive down to Ballard for a little birding this
afternoon. Several thousand snow geese put on quite a show for us near the
refuge. Also present were most common dabblers and dark geese. Seen in
passing were several Lapland longspurs, 2 hermit thrushes a brown thrasher and
a loggerhead shrike. The bluebird population looks fine around here. Drove
down to the south end of the Terel Field and did not see the huge numbers that
were reported to me last week. As usual with waterfowl you have to be in the
right place at the right time.
