No surprise at the 4 dead ducks. They would be out of season, right?
There has not been one purple gallinule reported in KY by a member of the
BirdKy group this year, yet there is a KY hunting season on that fine and
rather rare bird. This bird is rare even in LA and FLA.
Only in KY could this take place.
While bush hogging today I stirred up a covey of at least 25 quail. I slowed
down and let them all flee.
Birdingly,
Preston Forsythe in Muhlenberg Co.
Probably my last birding conservation post. Maybe the Audubon or Sierra Club
would like to do away with the purple gallinule hunting season. You know if
counts justified mass slaughter, I would still be against it. Look at what
happened to the passenger pigeon.

After viewing four dead ducks (blue wing 2 and wood duck 2) shot by a hunter,
it was a pleasure to see live birds from our kayaks at Bailey Hollow, Ky. Lake.
