Our yard was full of birds yesterday after the long needed rains came. We tallied 38 species. A great blue heron flew down the creek. Chimney swifts flew overhead. A yellow-bellied sapsucker was one of the five piciformes seen. Visiting the virginia creeper to snack on its berries were gray-cheeked, Swainson's and Wood thrushes, along with catbird, mockingbird and brown thrashers. There were four species of vireos -white-eyed, blue-headed, a late warbling, and red-eyed. We had three warblers - magnolia, blackburnian, and redstart. One white-thr. sparrow made an appearance - FOS for our yard.
It was a great day to be sitting on the patio.
