Regarding Juncoes:
My backyard juncoes have remained constant this winter. They feed
under the thistle feeder. I do not know what they are gleaning from
this. However, today when I visited my cabin on Ky. Lake to check on
freezing pipes, I had a male junco immediately attack the cracked corn I
scattered. Hopefully, we are not facing a decline in our little
"snowbirds". They have always been so consistent.
The Pine Warbler and Ruby-crowned Kinglet returned today at the suet,
but they had to contend with the Starlings who greedily took their share.
