This afternoon while birding along the river, 10 surf scoters, 17
red-breasted mergansers, 4 buffleheads, and 1 common loon were seen at Cox's
Park off
River Road. At the Louisville Water Company holding basins on Mayfair, we found
6
hooded mergansers.
At the basin above the dam there were two rafts of ducks. They were far out
in the river and the wind and waves made identification difficult. Buffleheads
and ring-necked ducks were some of the species observed.
Happy Thanksgiving.
