[birdky] As I understand it, all counties are required to have Animal Control officers.

They are county employees who are charged with dealing with nuisance,
dangerous, or neglected animals. They should do the job. By contrast,
the Humane Society is a private charitable organization that often works
closely with the county shelter but does not deal with animal control.
They sometimes own the shelter (as we do in Boyle county) but their task
is to get uunwanted dogs and cats adopted into suitable homes and to
educate the public about the importance of spaying and neutering.

Subject: [birdky] Cats And Birds
As most of the bird watchers know the biggest problem for feeders is=20
squirrels and what you call junk birds. Well I have had problems with=20
squirrels chewing up feeders and keeping things stirred up in the past
but=20
now and for quite some time I have another problem Cats yes I said cats.
There are four or five cats literally living in my backyard. These cats
are=20
wild and some were born in the yard and I think that some belong to
people=20
who live near me... I wish that I could get rid of this problem and so I
called the humane Society and asked if they would come and remove them
for=20
me but no they will take them if I catch them and call them they will
come=20
get them. Well I don't have any way to catch them so that is out. I had
a=20
trap big enough to hold them it has trapped Possums and squirrels before
and=20
so have other people but I loaned it to some one and never got it back.
What I would like to know if any of you have any ideas that will help
me.
