Late this afternoon. 5-31-02, there were three fledglings, side by side,
on a branch of a dead Shingle Oak at the edge of the yard.Suddenly an
adult flew in and handed off a rodent. One bird took a turn at it and
then the sibling at the end of the row came over and got the dead
rodent and promptly started tearing off parts and eating. This bird
knew what he was doing.
Suddenly from the top of another tree , a fourth bird started in and
the adult came flying by making that cak, cak cakking call and both of
the airborne birds headed for another tree. I never could get a good look
at them. But I'm thinking there may be a fourth fledling.
