At about 7:00 CST, this morning, I watched a Sharp-shinned Hawk chase a small
bird, probably a House Finch, over the south yard. They swooped and looped for
a few seconds, but the hawk abruptly give up the chase, flapped to the oak tree
and landed. It was a lovely bird, in adult plumage.
There is a very large, mature Coopers Hawk here, over last weekend and Debby
watched a juvenile Cooper's, hopping around the bush garden, on Tuesday. She
got some amazing close-up photos. Flickr link to one below.
