[birdky] About Bluebirds and Tree Swallows

Hi,

I don't post much and rarely reply, partly because I haven't much to add and also because I am long winded and babble on and on when I do have something to say, hehe...   but I really enjoy being part of this list and find it all so very interesting!  I wanted to share and also ask about Eastern Bluebirds...

We just moved here last year (Louisville, Valley Station area) and when we moved in I had a lot of bluebirds.  So this year I put up 2 bluebird boxes for them.  (All the way in the back of the property on the fence posts, I followed the guidelines on box placement).  I have not seen one bluebird! It is strange that we had so many last year and this year not a one!  I wonder if anyone else has noticed this in their area...  it is sad that they have not returned.

I also wanted to share that a pair of Tree Swallows have decided to take one of the boxes.  They are a joy to watch.

I still have one empty box...  if you run across a homeless bluebird, send him my way!!  (Free breakfast included with the room!)  A sparrow is eye-balling it, but so far it is vacant.
