[birdky] ASK (Lexington) field trip, Berea Woods, 4/28

We started out with 11 people on a lovely day that turned into good birding. The Cerulean drove us crazy. All those eyes and only a couple of glimpses. But we were happy to find a

GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH

as well as a

RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH.

And the Blackburnians we came across are always crowd pleasers. We all appreciated good views of the Worm-Eating and Blue-Winged. Only at the end did some of us get a great view of the yt warbler--we'd probably heard about 25.

We saw about 60 species: Warblers: blue-winged, bt green, blackburnian, yt warbler, pine, prairie, blackpoll, cerulean, black and white, worm, oven, Louisiana, kentucky, c yellowthroat, hooded, and chat.

Some other nice birds: white-eyed vireo, yellow-throated v, red-eyed v, cooper's hawk, osprey, kingfisher, turkey, both tanagers, ind. bunting, rb grosbeak, field sp, pileated, flicker, catbird, b thrasher.

The birds shut down when the sun finally came out and things warmed up. A very nice time overall.
