It's that hour called dusk at Short Creek in NW Grayson County, Ky. The blooming roses take on those soft magical hues of red, pink, white, yellow. The robins are especially noisy as they jockey for roosting sites in the tall cedar tree just off the porch at the back door. As I stepped outside to gather up Kitty there was a Killdeer signing off for the night. There are a few dark gray clouds lingering low on the western horizon and high in the sky to the south is one bright star. It's not exactly Lake Woe Begone but plenty good enough.
